Celebrate New Worker Cooperatives

These new co-ops will give presentations about their experiences and plans to build sustainable, green businesses in New York City communities. They focus on providing a variety of services from a immersive theater to wellbeing products to beauty services. 

Come meet other allies and organizational partners who've helped make the dreams of these entrepreneurs come true.

This is a free, family friendly event. For all ages. 

Food provided: traditional Caribbean and African foods.

 

Co-op Academy Spring 2019 Cohort

Umbel Landscaping • Low-maintenance, affordable ecological landscaping and plant consulting.

Generational Waves • Affordable housing incubator community providing safety, education, job readiness and life skills to homeless mothers. 

Sésé Accessible Wellness Center • Community centered wellness classes in the North Bronx

New York Pet Pal  • Pet sitting, training, and nutrition with qualified and experienced walkers & trainers. 

Algarabia Language Co-op • Language instruction for Arabic & Spanish with a social justice focus & culturally relevant curriculum. 

Pawsabilities • Product options for clothing, toys & accessories for family pets in vacation experiences.

Green Worker Co-op Academy - Business Boot-Camp for Cooperative Startups

The Co-op Academy is an intensive 5-month long training and support program that helps teams of aspiring entrepreneurs develop worker-owned green businesses.

It is unique in its focus on businesses that are both green and worker-owned. And utilizes an aggressive combination of training, coaching, and technical services.

The program includes classroom trainings; business coaches; and business support services such as legal incorporation, and fundraising training. The course is specifically designed so that each team is able to get their business up and running by the completion of the course.
