The Fish Parade is a mile-long procession through the streets of Hunts Point featuring a caravan of marchers and colorful “floats” created by visual and performance artists from the South Bronx incorporating issues of environmental awareness and community advocacy. The parade begins at Hunts Point Riverside Park and culminates at Barretto Point Park at the block-long Hunts Point Summer Festival, featuring a main stage, live entertainment, info and activities by local groups.
A day-long party celebrating Hunts Point’s revival, the street fair will provide a unique opportunity to connect the business and residential communities that have co-existed on the peninsula for so long. Ideally, residents and visitors alike will have the chance to sample product lines from local merchants within the community, and learn a little bit about the diverse business and artistic community here. Business owners and artisans, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to meet their host community and network with local businesses and other merchants in the area. Other tents at the festival will highlight the local arts scene and the work of nearby arts, educational, and environmental organizations. Visit the Daily News article on the Fish Parade.
